International Webinar – 2018

On 24th January 2018 we hosted a webinar for people interested in learning about recent international developments in the ASCOT instruments. The speakers, international academics with expertise in social care, talked about use of the ASCOT measure in their research. The first speaker, Lyn Phillipson (Australian Health Services Research Institute, University of Wollongong, Australia), presented preliminary results from a project aiming to test the ASCOT Easy Read version with older people with cognitive impairment living in the community. Ismo Linnosmaa (Centre for Health and Social Economics, National Institute for Health and Welfare THL, Finland), talked about applications of ASCOT in Finland and about experiences of using ASCOT in the EXCELC project (Exploring Comparative Effectiveness and Efficiency in Long-Term Care), a large cross-national project . Finally, the last presentation by Birgit Trukeschitz of the Research Institute for Economics of Ageing (WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria) focused on the use of ASCOT in Austria and on the translation of ASCOT into German for the EXCELC project.
