Introduction to ASCOT                                                                       

OVERVIEW AND COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a one-day interactive course, with practical sessions, which provides an introduction to ASCOT. The course is suitable for anyone interested in learning more about the toolkit. The aim is to provide people who are interested in using ASCOT with an understanding of both the conceptual basis of the measure and the different ways ASCOT can be used in research and evaluation.

The ASCOT measure is designed to capture information about an individual’s social care-related quality of life (SCRQoL) and can be used to measure social care outcomes. The measure is applicable across a wide range of user groups and care and support settings. This course provides an introduction to ASCOT and the various elements of the toolkit.

The course will cover the following elements:

The course will take place between 9.30am and 5pm on Wednesday 11th October 2017 at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

The price for the course is £230 per person.

The organisers reserve the right to cancel the course, for example if insufficient bookings have been received to make it viable. Using the mixed methods care home version of ASCOT (CH3)

OVERVIEW AND COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a two-day course, with practical sessions, on the mixed methods care home version of ASCOT (CH3). The course aims to provide people interested in using ASCOT in care homes with a thorough grounding in the conceptual basis of ASCOT and the methods used within CH3. By the end of the two-day course participants should have the skills and confidence necessary to use the CH3 tool. We advise anyone who would like to use the care homes version of ASCOT to attend this course.
This course concentrates upon using the care homes version of ASCOT (CH3). ASCOT CH3 is specifically designed to elicit the outcomes of social care from residents within care homes. The toolkit uses a mixed methods approach which includes interviews and an observational schedule.
The two day course covers the following topics

DATE AND VENUE

The course will take place on Wednesday 13th – Thursday 14th September 2017 at the University of Kent, Canterbury Campus. The times are as follows: 10am to 4.30pm on 13th September and 9.30am to 4.30pm on 14th September (with refreshments available 30 minutes prior to course start time on both days).

PRICES

The price for the course is £380 per person. The price excludes accommodation, and the course organisers are not responsible for arranging/booking accommodation.  There is plenty of good accommodation in Canterbury city centre, which is a short bus ride from the University of Kent campus, where the course is being held.
