Introduction to ASCOT: 31 March 2015

Overview

This was a one-day interactive course, with practical sessions, which provided an introduction to ASCOT. The course was suitable for anyone interested in learning more about the toolkit. The aim was to provide people who are interested in using ASCOT with an understanding of both the conceptual basis of the measure and the different ways ASCOT can be used in research and evaluation.

Course Description

The ASCOT measure is designed to capture information about an individual’s social care-related quality of life (SCRQoL) and can be used to measure social care outcomes. The measure is applicable across a wide range of user groups and care and support settings. This course provides an introduction to ASCOT and the various elements of the toolkit.

The course will cover the following elements:

  • Introduction to ASCOT
  • Measuring outcomes using ASCOT
  • Versions of ASCOT
  • Self-completion (SCT4 / SCT3)
  • Face to face interview (INT4)
  • Mixed methods for care homes (CH3)
  • Scoring and interpreting ASCOT
