Using the mixed methods care home version of ASCOT (CH3)

Overview

This is a two-day course, with practical sessions, on the mixed-methods care home version of ASCOT (CH3). The course aims to provide people interested in using ASCOT in care homes with a thorough grounding in the conceptual basis of ASCOT and the methods used within CH3. By the end of the two-day course, participants should have the skills and confidence necessary to use the CH3 tool. We advise anyone who would like to use the care homes version of ASCOT to attend this course.

Course description

This course concentrates upon using the care homes version of ASCOT (CH3). ASCOT CH3 is specifically designed to elicit the outcomes of social care from residents within care homes. The toolkit uses a mixed-methods approach which includes interviews and an observational schedule.

  • Using the ASCOT observational tool
  • Using the ASCOT interview schedules in a care home
