Research Interests

A-La is a health economist whose work focuses on the economics of mental health and well-being promotion across the life-course, as well as on the prevention of accidental and intentional injuries. She focuses in particular on systematic reviewing and decision analytical modelling.

In October 2008 she was the joint recipient of the best poster prize at the Second European Conference on Injury Prevention. She has an MSc in Health Management from Imperial College, London and another MSc in Health, Population and Society from the LSE. Prior to joining PSSRU she gained experience through an internship at the WHO in Geneva.

Among current work she is analysing the financing and organisation of mental health systems across Europe, as well as assessing the cost effectiveness of area based suicide prevention programmes in four European countries. Another interests is the link between physical and mental health. She has also estimated the economic case for investing in early detection and early intervention for people with psychosis in work for the UK Department of Health.
